Jurgen Klopp will have won every trophy possible at Liverpool if he wins the Europa League this season.
Liverpool’s potential Europa League opponents are beginning to emerge as qualification for the tournament continues.
Half of the 32 group stage places on offer have now been filled, with a further 16 spots up for grabs before the action begins next month. Ten further teams will progress from the final qualification round of the Europa League, which will be decided by August 31, and the remaining six coming from the losers of the final Champions League play-off round.
Liverpool and Brighton were the two English teams to secure their place in this season’s Europa League based on their Premier League of last term, with West Ham United also joining them after winning the Conference League in June.
The other sides that are guaranteed to be competing in the group stages are as follows: Atalanta, AS Roma, Freiburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Marseille, Rennes, Toulouse, Real Betis, Villarreal, Sporting, Servette, Sturm Graz and TSC Bačka Topola.
Marseille, Servette, TSC and Sturm Graz became the four latest sides to enter into the Europa League after losing in their Champions League third qualifying round league path, which consists of teams who did not win their domestic championship last term. The above-mentioned teams each saw their Champions League hopes dashed on Tuesday evening, with the same fate set to occur to six other sides at the end of August.
Liverpool already know they will be in the Pot 1 for the group stage draw, along with Roma, Villarreal, Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta and West Ham United. Other certainties at present are that Real Betis will be placed in Pot 2 while TSC and Servette will find themselves in Pot 4. The remaining pots cannot be determined until it is clear who are the 32 teams in full to have secured qualification.
