Wataru Endo makes his Premier League debut in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup against Newcastle.
Joel Matip fills in against Newcastle for the injured Ibrahima Konate as Wataru Endo makes his debut for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp selects Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in addition to the new acquisition for this midfield’s debut, which will be at the base of the engine room.
Endo, who cost Liverpool roughly £16 million to acquire from German club Stuttgart, just joined the team late last week, but he was immediately called upon to play in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth last Saturday when Mac Allister was given a red card that the Football Association later overturned.
For his first game of the season, Matip replaces Konate with captain Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Andy Robertson at right and left respectively.
After starting the first two games of the season in a midfield three, Cody Gakpo is in charge of the line. At St James’ Park, the Dutchman is positioned in the middle of the attack, with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz on each side of him.
In order to offer Klopp some significant firepower in reserve, should it be needed in the North East, Diogo Jota is moved to the bench alongside Darwin Nunez.
