Ryan Gravenberch will join Liverpool FC from Bayern Munich, and the total value of the deal could reach £38.5 million provided certain conditions are completed.
Gravenberch signed a five-year contract on deadline day, becoming the Reds’ fourth new player of the summer.
After a challenging year at Bayern Munich, where Ajax was traded for the Bundesliga club in a £20 million deal last summer, the move is made.
Liverpool had been following Gravenberch before he left Amsterdam and has now officially announced his signing for an initial sum of £34.25 million.
With an additional £4.25 million in agreed-upon performance-based add-ons, that may increase to £38.5 million.
Gravenberch, a Netherlands international, joins the team as part of a midfield reconstruction along with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo.
At Liverpool, he’ll put on squad number 38.
He said on the official LFC website, “Now we start fresh again, a new start.” “I’m going to give this club everything I’ve got. My goal is to receive awards. Play a lot and show them who we are and who I am to win prizes.
The 21-year-old was unable to play in Sunday’s match against Aston Villa because he had not yet registered with the Premier League.
Gravenberch is, of course, a long-term acquisition; his entrance in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield follows the departure of five veteran players.
This summer, several players found new teams: Fabinho (Al-Ittihad), James Milner (Brighton), Naby Keita (Werder Bremen), and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Besiktas).
Gravenberch joins fellow countrymen Virgil van Dijk and the other eleven Dutch players who have played for Liverpool’s first team.
