With 20,000 fans in line for tickets, the visit of Liverpool on November 9 will draw the largest attendance for a Toulouse game since August 2022.
In the fourth round of the Europa League group stage next month, Toulouse will host Liverpool, with their trip to Anfield scheduled for two weeks earlier.
The Reds are expected to play at Stadium Municipal for the first time since 2007, when Rafa Benitez’s team assisted in securing a spot in the Champions League with a 1-0 first-leg victory in the third qualifying round.
Toulouse recorded a 30,380 attendance on that day, with the match on November 9 expected to surpass that number.
Toulouse said last week that they sold out for the Europa League match, with over 20,000 fans waiting in line for tickets.
Get French Football News reports that this will result in the club’s largest crowd since a 3-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022, with at least 31,000 spectators expected at the 33,150-seat stadium.
According to Transfermarkt, the official attendance on that particular day was 31,700, with PSG starting players Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr.
The exact attendance for the Liverpool game, where the Reds will receive a travel budget of 1,200, has yet to be determined.
Toulouse is now second in Group E and still unbeaten, but they have only won two of their first eight games and are currently ranked 10th in Ligue 1.
After a 1-1 draw in their first Europa League match against Union SG, Carles Martinez Novell’s team defeated LASK 1-0 to improve to 4-0 after two games.
Novell’s team features few well-known players, with Frank Magri and Zakaria Aboukhlal sharing the season’s top scoring position with three goals each.
However, Aboukhlal will be absent from both of Liverpool’s games after undergoing surgery to repair a knee injury sustained against Union.
