Lakers Insider Shares Two Best Players Team Could Get to Fill Rotation Holes
As the Los Angeles Lakers look to bounce back from a turbulent 2024-25 season, team insiders are pointing to two standout players the franchise could realistically pursue to address critical rotation gaps. According to a trusted Lakers insider, the front office has narrowed its focus to players who not only fit the system but can make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor.
The first name generating buzz is Malik Beasley, a sharpshooting guard who spent time with the Lakers during the 2022-23 campaign. Beasley’s three-point shooting remains among the most reliable in the league, and with the Lakers ranking in the bottom third for perimeter efficiency last season, his return could provide a much-needed spark. Known for his quick release and ability to space the floor, Beasley could thrive alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis by stretching defenses and capitalizing on open looks.
The second target is Otto Porter Jr., a veteran forward with championship experience and a versatile defensive skill set. Porter played a key role in the Golden State Warriors’ 2022 title run and brings a high basketball IQ, solid rebounding, and the ability to guard multiple positions. With the Lakers struggling to find consistency at the wing last season, Porter’s presence could stabilize the second unit and offer reliable minutes off the bench.
Both players are considered affordable and attainable within the Lakers’ current cap structure, especially as the team looks to make smart, value-driven moves this offseason rather than swing for another blockbuster trade. With Darvin Ham expected to emphasize defense and spacing in his revamped system, Beasley and Porter fit the mold of role players who can thrive in complementary roles.
The Lakers are expected to begin preliminary talks with agents as free agency approaches in early July. While nothing is finalized, these two names have emerged as serious possibilities — and potentially key contributors — in the Lakers’ quest to return to title contention.
