Jurgen Klopp said, “I felt ready,” before making his “dream” debut, according to Jarell Quansah.
Despite the challenging circumstances he found himself in at St. James’ Park, Jarrell Quansah has expressed his happiness at making his Liverpool debut.
With 13 minutes left in the Reds’ game against Newcastle, the defender took Joel Matip’s place before fellow substitute Darwin Nunez made headlines with a dramatic late brace to seal the victory.
It wasn’t the best situation for a rookie to make their debut because Liverpool was down one player when Virgil van Dijk was dismissed from the game after 30 minutes.
To put the center-back in such a situation, Jurgen Klopp showed a tremendous level of trust, which Quansah utilized as motivation to overcome the difficulty.
Quansah told LFCTV, “[Klopp] just said I’m ready for it and I felt ready, but as ready as you can be in this scenario.
It’s difficult to put into words right now because you don’t expect to make your debut on the road against 10 men at St. James’ Park with the score at 1-0.
The Reds were down by a goal when the defender entered the game, but a brilliant comeback allowed Klopp’s team to steal three crucial points from the most unlikely of circumstances.
Quansah referred to the event as the stuff of “dreams” to obtain his first outing and highlighted “adrenaline” as a major component that helped him get through the performance.
The 20-year-old stated, “I’m typically cool, but it’s always easier when something is thrown on you and you have adrenaline coursing through your veins.
Quansah will be hoping for more opportunities at the center of the defense now that Van Dijk is on indefinite leave of absence due to a suspension and Ibrahima Konate is now out due to injury.
