Chelsea suffers heavy blow ahead of Premier League opener against Liverpool
Liverpool will face Chelsea in their first Premier League game of the season
The 2023-2024 Premier League season is about to begin, and Liverpool’s first game will be away to Chelsea, marking the start of a campaign in which the Reds will be looking to reverse last season’s failure to win a single title and crash out of the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Another club that did not do well last season, even worse than our Liverpool, was Chelsea, as they did not even manage to get into any European competition, but unlike us, the Blues have had a much more active summer in terms of signing new players, being also one of the teams in Europe that has made more money from the sale of their players.
Both teams have a lot to prove for the upcoming season, as they both hope to return to the top of the Premier League and the opening game could set the season on track, so although it is the first game of the season, it looks to be a very important one for the plans of both teams and it seems that Liverpool will arrive with a slight advantage after Chelsea received bad news.
Bad news for Chelsea
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea’s star striker Christopher Nkunku avoided what appeared to be a more serious and long-term injury, however he is expected to miss a few weeks of action which will force him to miss the game against the Reds at Stamford Bridge.
